Amazing Story
Could my Dad be a Hero?

I thought my Dad could be a hero by rescuing someone from a burning house but then I didn’t want him to have his hair and eyebrows burnt off.
I thought my Dad could be a hero by saving a cow and her calf from a raging flood but then I remembered that my Dad couldn’t swim.
I thought my Dad could be a hero by saving someone who was stuck down a cliff but then I remembered that my Dad didn’t have a long rope.
I thought my Dad could be a hero by stopping a runaway school bus but then I remembered that my Dad would be at work at that time of day.
I thought my Dad could be a hero by finding some people who were lost in the bush but then I remembered that my Dad didn’t like walking far.
I had nearly given up thinking that my Dad could be a hero when I saw a sign asking for blood donors.
He could save lots of people’s lives by donating his blood and he has heaps of blood.
So now my Dad is a hero because he gave some blood to save the life of a 6 year old girl who has leukaemia.
My Dad is a hero because he gave some blood to save the life of an 18 year old boy who was in a bad car accident.
My Dad is a hero because he gave some blood to save the life of a brand new baby.
My Dad is a hero because he gave some blood to save the life of a grandmother who needed blood after an operation.
My Dad is a hero because he gave some blood to save the life of another Dad who needed to be there for his children.
My Dad is a hero every three months and I am very proud of him. When I grow up I am going to be a hero too.
